Bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes, and online. Over the month of February, and throughout the year, CKNW Kids’ Fund’s Pink Shirt Day aims to raise awareness of these issues, as well as raise funds to support programs that foster children’s healthy self-esteem.
This year’s focus is cyberbullying. The dawn of social media brought with it a whole new way to interact, communicate, and even bully; in this digital world filtered photos and crafted messages can be posted in an instant and too often send a mean message rather than something nice. Kindness requires no manipulation, no focusing on the negatives, and no filtering of yourself. It’s simply, truly nice.
Social media users:
THINK before posting. Ask yourself if your post is:
True, Helpful, Inspiring,Necessary and KIND.
On February 27 come to school wearing pink to show support for the need of bully-free environments. For more information about this day go to https://www.pinkshirtday.ca/about
